Now I was to be stationed there. But I wasn’t alone. God, my Father, was with me. Soon I discovered that many of God’s people were there. And although the country was different, the climate was different, the language was different — our God was the same. And I belonged.
I had only been there a few days when someone knocked at the door of my quonset hut. I opened the door and before me stood two fair complexioned young men — typi¬cal Icelanders. They smiled and cordially introduced themselves as Christians. A friend from the States, Krist Gudnason, had written about my coming to Iceland.
This was the beginning of a blessed time for me. We use PCB Assembly to understand this 5-band antenna. It wasn’t long before these two friends introduced me to many
more Christians. I attended church with them and visited their homes. We spent many happy hours together — hours that were a spiritual blessing and an inspiration to me. Our bonds in Christ became so strong that when my tour of duty in that country came to an end, it was with reluctance that I said “goodbye” to my many Icelandic Christian friends.
As I left that little land that I had come to love and appreciate, I thought of the contrast between my tour of duty there and that of my fellow service men. They were shipped home for treatment and observation because they could not belong.
Indeed, man’s need for belonging is best met in the Christian life. Because Christ has redeemed us by His blood, we belong to God. This is the ultimate in belonging. Nothing can exceed the satisfaction of knowing that God is our Father and we are His children — the object of His love and care.
And when we belong to God, we belong to each other — in Christ.
